A dirt lot out back,
Old trash can as first base,
An old wore out ball.

Hitting the ball hard,
Rabbits run across the field,
Dirt in my face.

The day passes fast,
Sun begins to set,
We all race home.

The perpetual pursuit for an unattainable freedom

Very nice poem, although I'm from Texas and grew up there. Never did things like this or knew anyone that did, although it may have been the part of Texas I was in. Are you from Texas or just imagining? :)

I've heard there are troubles of more than one kind, some come from the front and some come from behind, but I've bought a big bat, I'm all ready you see, now my troubles are going to have troubles with me. -Dr. Seuss

I agree, but it's not a haiku...
