Bird in tree, head cocked.
Deer steps, vague silhouette.
Girl sees deer, breath stops.

The author's comments:
I wrote this after from an experience I had while walking my German shepherd. I had wanted to write a story about it from the bird's point of view, but I just couldn't get it started.

I love birds too, I've always wanted a pet bird-wise. But it's impossible to raise baby birds that have fallen from the nest, and my house would not work at all for domestic birds.

Don't you wish that you could speak to birds? Don't you wish you could tell them, or help them understand that you mean no harm when approaching? It seems impossible...

Very brief, and very nice. As you might guess, I am unbelievably fond of birds. I found this to be a great description. Although I get so sad, when birds fly away while I approach.
