Waiting
I am waiting,
waiting for the boy
with eyes like the sea after a storm
to come pick me up
in his dusty Ford truck
Even though the popular girls laughed
even though my friends sighed
I know he'll come
I know he'll come
Even though it's late and raining
and I've been waiting two hours
and my favorite dress is soaked
I know he'll come
and say he was in traffic
or his mom made him dress up
or his truck wouldn't start
I know he
'll come
Because he promised
and even though the most popular boy in school that everyone said I
didn't have a chance with
With eyes like the sun after a
storm
keeps his promises
Doesn't he?
