"The greatest happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved- loved for ourselves or rather, loved in spite of ourselves." -Victor Hugo-

The rose will make you breathless
The rose will make you stare
And yet the thorns, if you are pricked
Will cause you great despair

The beauty seen is not in truth
Lies left in reflection
And the thorns you do not see
The dark side of affection

It draws you in with graceful beauty
Keeping your attention
And then you bleed with dark red blood
It's nature, they don't mention

Roses come in many colors
Red is not the master
But what they have in common is
They're beauty and disaster

The truth is not for us to know
But we can't help but touch
For greed is not intended
Still, people want too much
