Pink Ribbons
Pink ribbons in the trash,
 Thrown away, now a mess.
Smooth silk once without wrinkle or tear,
Is crumpled and battereed and nobody cares.
 But I care, you see
 For that ribbon is me
Girlhood so smooth with it's beauty so rare,
Tossed away for adulthood and all its cares.
 The laughter put away
 For more serious things
I have traded the bright colors of life,
For more somber tones, that itch and bind.
 Pink ribbons in the trash,
 Thrown away, now a mess.
Bright, smooth silk that was once without a tear
 Slowly fades away and disappears.
