The longer you stay on the ground, the harder it is to stand up.

My boyfriend was the sweetest, funniest, greatest guy I had ever met,
With him, my fun-loving friends, and my sarcastic family, I was all set.
Then came the day, he grabbed my wrist, he took me away,
He ignored me, every word I protested, every one of my pleas to stay.
I loved the world I was in, I loved the way I had what I wanted in my reach,
I hated to, I hated myself as I took in the lessons he had to teach:
“Be quiet, don't smile, cover up and keep your head down,
I don't care what it takes, rain or shine, always wear your signature frown.
Manners will be useless, for example, don't use please or thank you,
You will always hear from me; when someone else talks, you tell me who.
The most important thing I have to say is if one boy thinks you're on the market,
You'll tell me immediately and I'll let him know you're far from it.”
