Silenced Art
Once upon an older time,
A young little new poet attempted to rhyme.
He tried and he tried, but the maids wouldn't swoon,
try as he might he could not carry a tune.
All the townspeople laughed, the baker scoffed,
"try as you might, you just can't pull it off!"
The poet was sad; he looked down with a sigh,
and then the young poet, started to cry.
The people felt bad, the baker sat down.
Everyone felt sorry, all of the town.
"Let's cheer him" they said, the idea quite sublime,
but what to do, with a poet that can't rhyme?
"I know" one said, "let's let him try.
A poems a poem, even if it doesn't rhyme."
The clouds rolled back, and it was sunny,
the poet said, "I'd rather be funny."
The poet stood up, and began to talk,
and the whole entire town was shocked.
They clapped, they hooted, they erupted in laughter.
And the town and the joker, lived happily ever after
