Of Life And Learning
Every day I wish they should have been there with me,
I hope they wish the same;
When I was growing up- trying to be a gentlewoman,
I wish they taught me the rules of the imperfection game.
But they were never here.
so I taught myself everything from the scratch;
So you dare not object when I fumble,
or even miss a catch.
I came across a man who I called love,
I wouldn’t have played so nonchalant had I known what it meant;
Pouring my heart out to him,
I wish someone was there to teach me nothing is permanent.
I loved being alone since I was young,
But never knew what lonely felt like;
Until I needed someone to guide me,
Someone to talk to while I’m alive.
But what I learnt from all this,
Is something none of you will understand;
To take responsibility for every wrong decision,
It’s only your own feet that’ll help you stand.
I learnt that I’ll go wrong and fall,
My feet will get weak sometimes;
But I also learnt how to pull myself up,
Because stopping isn’t even worth a dime.
I also learnt to take chances,
But more important was to learn which ones to miss;
For teaching yourself the difference between right and wrong,
Was never a mere bliss.
But you can never learn how to live a life,
Until the moment of your death;
But the child in me died long back,
What about that last breath?
