One day as I strolled 'round
The dusty streets of a dusty town
A thought occurred to me
And I began to see
that

[chorus]
L-O-V-E
The Beatles were right: it's all we need
L-O-V-E
Why doesn't anyone believe me?

The little girl looked at the sky,
turned to me and asked me why
there were clouds and trees and loving hands
silly things and "Yes we can"s
and

[chorus]
L-O-V-E
The Beatles were right: it's all we need
L-O-V-E
Love is the strangest mystery

The old man lies on his bed as he dies
and turns to his wife with tears in his eyes
He asks, "Will you never misplace our memories?"
"Never, my dearest," says she
"because

[chorus]
L-O-V-E
The Beatles were right: it's all we need
L-O-V-E
Love is the greatest gift you gave to me"

A group of children on a stage,
longing to be outside to play
They're performing a concert of musical things
But a small boy steps forth and instead he sings

[chorus]
"L-O-V-E
The Beatles were right: it's all we need
L-O-V-E
Love is the thing that the blind can see"

Across the oceans on a different stage
With trembling hands a girl clutches a page
She grabs the microphone and holds it at long
And begins to sing a homemade song:

[chorus]
L-O-V-E
The Beatles were right: it's all we need
L-O-V-E
Why doesn't anyone believe me?

Thank you!!! The tune is meant to be more upbeat.

I really liked this (partially because, I too, love the Beatles!) but it's true, paticularly the last line! I'm just wondering if it is supposed to be upbeat or slower, or if it can be either. I loved it!
