(Chorus):
I'm on top of the world
I'm on top of the world

I'm on top of the word
but there's only room for one

I'm on top of the world
On top of the world

I'm on top of the world wondering when I will be done
[end of chorus]

All the people down below
all the ones I wish I used to know

They smell the flowers, take life slow

that's the way I want to go

(Chorus)

Started to make my way down
to that common ground

But I'm just going round and round
stuck on this mountain's crown

(Chorus)

Was I once like them?
is it possible I chose this dead end

If only time could bend
if only I could have one friend

(Chorus)

My past must have beet better
If only I could remember

What did I do differently
What made the gap between them and me
What changes have I made?

(Chorus)

The line "wondering when I will be done" is something that makes sense, but only if you have background knowledge on why I wrote the song...so it's a little confusing. It's like the main character chose to be on top, but didn't realize it would be for so long, didn't know how bad it would be. So now they are waiting for it to end and, well, wondering when they will be done.

"According to some, heroic deaths are admirable things. (Generally those who don't have to do it. Politicians and writers spring to mind.) I've never been convinced by this argument, mainly because, no matter how cool, stylish, composed, unflappable, manly, or defiant you are, at the end of the day you're also dead. Which is a little too permanent for my liking." — Jonathan Stroud (Ptolemy's Gate)

The good:  I really liked this!  It had a good beat, and I immediately started singing involuntarilly.  Which is a huge compliment, because it usually takes me forever to think of a tune. :P  I also liked how you made the "top of the world" something so cliche in it's positive form, something undesirable.  Awesome work!

The Bad:  I didn't really like the "wondering when I'll be done" part - it didn't really make sense to me, and didn't really fit the tempo.

The Random:  Love it!
