Silent, Starving for Air

It belongs to me
This feeling
I feel stretched like a thousand ropes tied
Pulling me in every direction
I own the key to this feeling
No one can decide when it’s opened
Or when it closes
I typically keep it locked, though
It’s desire to produce consumes me
like a Venus fly trap after days of hunger, and uneasiness

It’s everything I once had
A dusty dream no wind can blow off
And as I hear that name repeated
My head bows down once again
And I find myself too weak
Too afraid
To unlock it.
