When my levees break
when our bodies fall
when the ground can shake
the low when once was tall

when my levees break
when i’m reduced to crawl
that pact with you i’ll make
to rise above it all

so when we pour out summer in a midnight sleep
and wash away those hurts that run too deep
wish and laugh and taste my salty lips
and ask the angels why it had to come to this

when i let you see
when all that you can take
is all but you and me

and its not you but we
i’ll catch your great mistake
and make myself believe
