You own everything that happened to you. Tell your stories. If people wanted you to write warmly about them, they should've behaved better. -Anne Lamott, from Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life.

You’re like a thousand stars in the sky
Pointing out every light
Shining so bright that I
Am I blinded by your smile
Just hold me for me close
For a little while
Just long enough for you
To realize
That I’m not what you need

And I trip over everyone I meet
Swinging so close to the knee
That I can’t stand to let you be with me
A beautiful catastrophe

And you’re like a rainstorm on a plane
Shaking up everything
Throwing me to the sharks
I don’t know where you are
But I will try to see
Just where you fit me
Because I can’t tell how
Your lock fits with my key

And I trip over everyone I meet
Swinging so close to the knee
That I can’t stand to let you be with me
A beautiful catastrophe

And I wonder how you ever found suck a mismatched pair
And if you keep staying with me then it’s just not fair
Because you deserve someone so much more than everything inside of me

I trip over everyone I meet
Swinging so close to the knee
That I can’t stand to let you be with me
And I’m running out of defenses
Could it be a coincidence?
That you could be with me
A beautiful catastrophe
