Drown[in Elyon]

You have reached your end
And you're standing in the desert
You tried so hard and you failed
Now you feel as if you're cursed
This is not the road
For you to travel down
It is time to find the river
Swallow water and let yourself drown

And it hurts for a minute
Then your vision fades to grey
As the current fills your lungs
Your old life is washed away
And you float and feel alive
And He's there alongside you
Savior, Elyon
The way, the life, the truth

Black and green and purple
Brown and blue and red
Black again you've searched for
Fought and cried and bled
To return to find your home
Riddled with disease
Now it seems that all is lost
Hope's beyond imagining

So it hurts for a minute
Then your vision fades to grey
As the current fills your lungs
Your old life is washed away
And you float and feel alive
And He's there alongside you
Savior, Elyon
The way, the life, the truth

Fear is all too real
Mist is creeping in
Voices and shadows fill you
With lust, power and sin
Temptation is everywhere
And your goal so far away
Fight it with the promise
Even though it hurts to stay

Yes it hurts for a minute
Then your vision fades to grey
As the current fills your lungs
Your old life is washed away
And you float and feel alive
And He's there alongside you
Savior, Elyon
The way, the life, the truth

All that he has given
Maybe seems to much
After all, you've turned away
You don't deserve his touch
In the answering silence
Hear his gentle voice
Sweet reminders of his love
Help to force the choice

Though it hurts for a minute
Then your vision fades to grey
As the current fills your lungs
Your old life is washed away
And you float and feel alive
And He's there alongside you
Savior God, Elyon
Your way, your life, your truth

Savior God, Elyon
My way, my life, my truth

The author's comments:
This is based on the last two books of the Lost Book series by Ted Dekker, part of the Books of History Chronicles. They're awesome.
