Impact
Writing a poem isn't
 going to change the world
 no matter how happy
 that would make me
 if it were true
 one cannot alter the
 course of human history
 with a handful of words
 no, writing a poem
 or a song
 or a book
 isn't going to change
 anything
even though I wish it could
 words aren't nearly
 as powerful as we like
 to think they are
 a couple of lines
 won't have the effect
 we mean them to
 we can't stun a
 room into silence
 no matter how cool
 that would be
 if simple marks
on a page could do that
 no, writing a poem isn't
 going to change the world
