Fallen Hero
A dozen roses in my hands,
Beside your grave I lay.
My heart is broken and can’t withstand
This hurt that won’t go away.
You gave your life, fearless seal,
For your country that you hold dear.
It’s hard to grasp, it seems unreal,
That today marks your death one year.
Each hot tear that fell on the earth
Burned when you went to heaven’s place.
Right before your child’s birth,
How I wish you could see his face!
As our child continues to grow
I will bring him to your grave.
So he’ll see you and he’ll know
That his father was so brave.
