If only we were older
Made our own decisions
Lived on our own
Could do whatever we wanted

But who wants to give up
adolescents?
No worries
No real responsibilities
That new, young teenage love that many take for granted

"I love him"
"I love her"
We say it, we mean it too

"You cannot love, you're still so young"
We hear it all the time,
from parents, teachers, all adults alike.

But they don't know
Maybe they're just jealous
They yearn for the love, the young true love they had at our age
the love they let just slip away.

The high school sweetheart
The summer romance
That love sick feeling you get when they're away
Or getting love drunk
from something as simple as
A wink
A smile
A kiss.
