What Things Could Be
It's been a year since I've spoken to you
It's been a year that I've been thinking about you
Why can't I get you out of mind
I keep telling myself we were never meant to be together in this lifetime
It's been a year since you've made me laugh
The first time my eyes laid on you
I knew you were something far too better than I could ever have
And now I lay here at night
Wishing I'd fall asleep
So I could forget about you
But secretly hoping you'd be in my dreams
And now I know that this is a fairy tale all in my mind
But I can't help thinking
Wishing what things could be
You know that year we met
I was drowning in my troubles way too deep
But when I was with you
You could take all the pain from me
Even for just a moment
I could smile
Just by the things you used to say
Like the sun growing brighter and brighter because you chased all the stormy clouds away
And now I lay here at night
Wishing I'd fall asleep
So I could forget about you
But secretly hoping you'd be in my dreams
And now I know that this is a fairy tale all in my mind
But I can't help thinking
Wishing what things could be
Oh you could have been the prince
I, the damsel in distress
And it'd be a happy ever after
It'd be you and me, against the world, against it all
And we'd be living the life instead of me
Mindlessly dreaming of what things could be
And now I lay here at night
Wishing I'd fall asleep
So I could forget about you
But secretly hoping you'd be in my dreams
And now I know that this is a fairy tale all in my mind
But I can't help thinking
Wishing what things could be
It's been a year since I've spoken to you
It's been a year since then when I started dreaming
Once again
