Quixotic
So would you stand by me?
  ‘Cause I’d stand by you.
  Would you stay with me?
  If I asked you to.
  Would you care for me?
  And I for you,
  ‘Cause after all,
  We’re broken in two.
  These days, they pass by
  With no rhythm or pace.
  I can’t keep time
  Or try to save face.
  I’m content to stay
  In this moment of time,
Just trying to stay by your side.
  But of course, I stumble
  Of course, I fall.
  There’s no way to stop
  Or escape from it all.
  So I get up,
  And brush off the dirt,
  Put on a smile
Keep walking like I’m not hurt.
  (It’s not easy-
  Nothing ever is
  But I go on hoping
  This isn’t another hit-and-miss.)
  I’ve had so many before,
So many stories I’d never say
  The past must stay behind
Since it’s a struggle to get through today.
But every time I start to slow down,
You go further and further away.
  Though there’s great risk
(And a greater price to pay)
I’ll do anything to make you stay.
