Dear Mr. Shadow
Dear Mr. Shadow, sometimes I wonder if:
Do you really wish to be with me, so plain, so dumb, so stiff?
If you didn’t happen to sprout from my boring, useless feet
Would you run away and find a better child to be with?
Everyday we stagger down the same old boring street
No friends in sight, no life to live, just us two: feet in feet
Oh Mr. Shadow, since you can turn black or gray or blue
Perhaps it’s possible that you can turn green with envy too?
Dear Mr. Shadow, what if you can bend the rule?
What if you weren’t tied all day to me: a hopeless, useless fool?
You could see the blue summer skies swirl, the evening sprayed with stars
You could bond with someone beautiful, cling to someone cool
Everyday we stagger down the same old boring street
No friends in sight, no life to live, just us two: feet in feet
Oh Mr. Shadow, since you can turn black or gray or blue
Perhaps it’s possible that you can turn green with envy too?
Dear Mr. Shadow, please just hear my plea
If it’s true that you wish to run away and be free from me
I promise you I’m working hard, I’ll find a reason soon
For Mr. Shadow to wish that he’s tightly screwed to me
Everyday we stagger down the same old boring street
No friends in sight, no life to live, just us two: feet in feet
Oh Mr. Shadow, since you can turn black or gray or blue
Perhaps it’s possible that you can turn green with envy too?

These lyrics were inspired by Francis of Assisi's quote: "A single sunbeam is enough to drive away many shadows." Never forget to love yourself!
