Great Friend
Relishing the fresh green freedom,
Painted with the morning sunshine,
Stand the supreme kings,
Above all the creepers and vine.
With strong roots that race along,
Like the vessels from the heart
Within Mother Nature’s tender ribs,
Drained by water, sacred as the art.
Stern stems burst from the ground,
Rising over tyranny and soily fate;
A symbol of timeless resilience they are,
Woodened by years, through all the gates.
Wings of green fluttering gaily, which
If not leaves, would be birds;
Little cut kites stitched to the branches
Nodding heads in tune to my words.
Colourful stars with arms delicate,
Like babies born from lush leaves,
Petals hold hands to turn fruits;
Sugar-soaked sweetness within its eaves.
When all the world turns unreal,
I turn to my great friend;
The tall tree by the river standing
Should always live till the end.
