Small Town
When I step out of that small little car,
I am overfilled with excitement.
It’s spilling out of me when when I talk,
But inside, I’m filled with frightment.
My mother is in that small little house,
That one, with the dog in front.
And each step makes noise on the gravel,
And the opening gate makes you grunt.
My mother is beautiful, kind, (and small),
And her home is exactly the same.
It’s welcoming smell invites you in,
As you’re walking through the door frame.
A small giggle, a laugh, a start, and a squeal,
Erupt from this small little lady.
And when she gets up and gives me a hug,
Her beautiful smell engulfs me.
Her town is quaint, and cute, (and small),
And everyone to everyone talks.
A candy store, a bakery, and a subway,
Are all in a 5 minutes walk.
The only big things in this small little town
Are hotels, some dogs, and Nathaniel.
He’s tall and strong, and is very lucky.
Because he’s married to my mother.
And the small off-road trails,
Where the bikers ride,
Are all danger zones
To most people.
But we love the small bangs,
And the crashes and slams,
Of the pickup truck hitting
The ground with a bam.
I love this small place, (and the people in it)
Wholefully, with all of my heart.
And everytime I appear in this place,
I never want to part.

This is about Pueblo, Colorado, where my birthmom lives. I have a love for this place and it is one of my favorite places to be, so I decided I'd write a poem about it!
