Long Lost Friend
Jumping, barking pure joy and wagging tail
His constant companion on daily walks
Begging for treats and head rubs he’d wail
There to listen if I wanted to talk
Flowing golden coat and happy dances
Guarded the yard while you watched your kids grow
Gold has faded and no longer prances
Your memory and love will always flow
Your antics and routine are still so near
We drive up the lane expecting to see
Slowly departing and leaving we feared
You left us knowing what you meant to me
When we all talk about what you had done
We now realized you were second to none

This poem is one that was really hard to make and very meaningful to me. My dog Toby died in September of 2021. He has always been my pat from the day I was born, he has watched me grow up and seen me grow. My heart sank the day I heard that he had cancer and would pass away soon. I made this poem to cope with the pain of his death and to just say thank you for the wonderful life I had with him.
