The cold white powder falls out of the clouds,

leaving piles and drifts for people with doubts.

Freezing the roads with ice, sleet, and powder,

making warm-blooded natives get louder.

Snowflakes shimmer on the sidewalk each day,

ice underneath making the people pay.

Stoking the flame of the red-hot fireplace,

stocking up inside the store people race.

As the day breaks dawn people look and see,

kids jumping into drifts all filled with glee.

Parents join them leaving worries behind,

letting go of stress, having fun in mind.

Snow always brings all people together,

making memories to keep forever.

The author's comments:

Winter is a time for families to come together during all of the cold enduring months. I thought that this piece depicts some of the good things about winter.
