Courage

When the rabbit finally rears its head
When the horses are finally halted
All the legions would sooner lie dead
All the kings’ meals are no longer salted

Through flame and fear they take no notion
Through dusk and dawns they travel
Their eyes dart about seeking all signs of motion
Their spirits are lifted as their enemies fall to the gravel

The heat they endure is hotter than hell
The heart that they bear is stronger than meth
Songs of courage are what wishes them well
Songs of war are the embracers of death

And who would persist like that of a parrot
Why a man with great courage and a heart with much merit
