The black sky turns darker deep in the night,
My breath fogs up the glass on the window,
Looking out I see a terrible sight,
Soldiers taking away lives far below;

I flee from the house for it is not safe,
I pray to my God for help on this day,
People are begging for mercy as they die from strafe,
I run by sadly in complete dismay

I take off running for they have seen me,
They catch me and hold me against my will,
They beat me to a point where I can't see,
Then I pray to God to please make it still

All of a sudden I see a bright light,
I go to it; He says it'll be alright

My friend (Mason H.) needed some help writing a poem for his english class. We came up with this sonnet as a result!
