A Promise to Happiness
I smeared his Happy world to black
And swore you’d never get him back.
I cherished him and took him in,
And promised him you’d never win.
I held him tight and kept him still
And fought away the poison pills.
And when you came and took him back
I promised you would pay for that.
I’ll find my strength when he’s alone,
And crawl into his Moody home
And give him life through Pain and Fear
Then Loneliness he will revere.
I smeared his Happy world to black
And wallowed in his dirty tracks.
I made him burn, and made him sing
And made him cry, and made him sting
I had him here, in perfect shape
His soul was never yours to take
Through Sorrow, Hurt, and things austere,
I’ll make him suffer, make him Fear.
One winter’s night when he’s alone
‘My wish is yours’ I will intone
Eradication in his prime
Will bring him back and make him mine.
I smeared his Happy world to black
And made him snap and made him wrack
And promised him you’d lose it all
And pushed him up against a wall
And made him slither like a snake
I watched him fall and watched him break
I ordered razors to his wrist
And felt them tremble in his fist
You took what wasn’t meant for you
You made him feel fresh and brand new
You barged right in and took him back
I promise you will pay for that.
