As We Grow
Years pass by through fragile days of youth
As change takes place since times of innocence
Our simplistic moments fade into truth
Forced to reject the games of pure nonsense
Child-like conflicts of harmless dismay
Turn to wars of the up most temptations
Battlefields change from places of play
To grounds piled with new thrilling sensations
Nurturing figures who kept us protected
Have loosened their close pull on our grown hearts
And those with choices we once respected
Will reflect in us as we make our starts
The times of pure youth may lie in our past
But deep in our hearts that child will last
