Silently and smoothly, the python glides,
Searching for food in the depths of the swamp.
Through the never ending night and black grime,
Looking for a reward to swiftly chomp.

Closing in on the sweetly soothing scent,
Ready to strike at a site of motion.
About to perform a natural event,
Without any superstitious notion.

The prey is spotted scurrying away,
Sensing the silent snake closing ground fast.
The serpent catches up without delay.
But the shaken prey will try to outlast.

This is the python’s mysterious hunt,
The prey is caught and the jaw is sealed shut.
