As paws delicately brush the ground
The victim hears no sound
It turns deaf ears
To a creature that will end its years
Lips stream back in a silent snarl
Eyes rivet from side to side
As time passes that she must bide
Although with her prey she has no quarrel
Finally, at the precise moment,
A whirl of fur hurricanes atop
A mouse without stop
Squeaks shred the air but no one is there
But meows of loyalty purr at the one she trusts,
And a bond is there that never rusts.
Beware a cat's slyness,
But be open for a cat's friendship.
