I was tricked to buy that ring binding us.
Your beauty drew me to such an action,
Unaware of what could not be undone
And the Thief of Marriage how treacherous.

Marriage stole my time, snatched many pleasures,
Tore my privacy away, snagged my dreams,
Stripped me of all I had wanted it seemed,
As with all my young heart’s long-sought treasures.

Then the World decided to play with me:
When I was out of work, we had nothing.
Life had us beat, broke, hopelessly breathing,
And we nearly gave up to death, din’t we?

But you pulled me close, hid me from the cruel.
Through that, for all it took, Marriage paid in full.

Although I am not married, this is what I think/hope it will be like.
