Why I Shouldn't Write Poetry
This sonnet is taking too long to write
It really is getting quite tedious
Ten syllables isn’t enough, alright?
And these rhymes are truly quite hideous
Maybe I should just go write a haiku
I’ll even consider writing free form
This poem is dreadful that much is true
And bumpy as a ship in a storm
Shakespeare’s to blame for this feeble attempt
Such nice writing made sonnets look easy
His beautiful words often lure and tempt
But now I find myself queasy
Away from this page I shall go at last
Very thankful to put this in my past
