Does poetry compare to a boy I once knew?
Oh how I detest it so.
Filled with hidden meanings, unsure of what's true,
confused by its direction of flow.

One line speaks of moments of bliss,
the next spits out hatred and anger .
The first stanza describes true love's kiss,
then afterwards a decision to abandon her.

but in spite of the confusion and chaos it may bring
and themes and feelings hidden ,
I learned there is poetry in the songs that I sing,
singing lyrics that constantly leave me smitten.

As to the boy I once knew, I'd bid poetry goodbye,
though soon it'll return, and life again goes awry.

In this poem I compare my ex to poetry and how difficult it can be. Note this is my first time writing a sonnet, i know it's not perfect but I tried :)
