Spring
The time of year that’s known as spring is birth
Of life in all its forms, the start of new
Beginnings. Flowers start to grow on Earth,
As storms in us begin to break apart.
The forms of life are ranged from trees that bloom
To birds exchanging warmth down South for warmth
Up North. From butterflies that leave cocoons
To worms that wriggle out when rain descends.
The gift of spring most loved is found in us.
As weather gets more pleasant, we can see
That we are growing less confined and thus
Are starting down a path that leads to joy.
Yet spring is full of sadness. It, too fast,
Departs and it can never, never last.
