Some things about him made her curious--
How a mood shifts from calm to furious
How a face contorts from beauty to pain
How a man can change, like weather--like rain

There were times when she cried, wounded and lost
She thought of how he came too high a cost.
Like a surgeon, his abuse was precise
His line was drawn before he made his slice.
When healed, it would never been seen again
Leaving her with nothing to show her friends.

There were other times when he was so kind
And when she hurt, all those times came to mind
Like this never-ending merry-go-round
Where once again, she found herself spellbound.
