Parting
You're staying there, yet you are leaving now.
I bid farewell for the rest of the day,
and as you are taking your final bow,
I will remember this sad day in May.
Your presence will carry on in spirit,
and I remember all the words you said,
but wish that one last time I could hear it
as you lie right there on your dying bed.
I can't imagine life without you here,
but I know you will be close to my heart.
Without you it might be too much to bear;
it feels like something's ripping me apart.
As long as I live I'll remember you,
and I wait to be reunited too.
