This Place Is Not Like Home
The ocean blue,
The sky without a cloud,
And the villas in the rocks above.
Our heads filled with desire,
Instantly falling in love.
And the idea of growing up,
Seems nicer knowing
Where we could end up.
The warm breeze.
The crowded brick streets.
The flowers in the trees.
Euphoria fills our laughs
Knowing we are blessed.
Appreciating this place
And this very time in space.
This experience for us only.
Exploding with angst
To share our stories
When we return to the states.
This place is not like home.
Maybe that’s why
We love it so much.
The boat is leaving
Now it's time to go.
Back to mainland
One day closer
To going home.

Over the summer I had the amazing opportunity to travel to Italy and one place that stuck out to me was Capri. This poem is about how I felt as I was there.
