When Life Gives You Lululemons: Book Review
What happens when life gives you lemons? You make lemonade! But what happens when life gives you lululemons? Karolina, Mariam, and Emily could give you one scenario. A town full of lies, housewives, and unforeseen turns is what happens in Greenwich, Connecticut in When life gives you lululemons.
Lauren Weisberger continues The Devil Wears Prada with this dangerously thrilling novel . Featuring a character for every womens american dream: Emily who is a strong, feisty, independent woman looking to make a name for herself, Maririam who is a stay at home mom to a darling set of three kids and wealthy husband, and Karolina who is an ex-model with a rocking body and loving son with a future US president! It all sounds fun and games until Karolina finds herself caught up in the law with no one to turn to-- accept a friend from her past.
Weisberger creates a love-hate relationship with her readers, due to her additions of deceitful men and the unmatched truth of upper class society. While reading the book I felt like the fourth addition to the unstoppable trio, which was easy to do because of the way the book is structured. Each character got the spotlight on them for a chapter at a time, which allowed for an easy read and deep understanding of the character dynamic. Additionally, the use of dialogue and interior monologue was essential to gain insight from each woman.
Girl power no doubt was the core of the book. Lauren Weisberger did a sensational job writing and conveying this powerful piece to change the trajectory of every woman’s life who reads it. The theme of strengths in numbers only amplifies at the end. Additionally, Weisberger shows the hardiness of women with each wall these characters climb. Moreover, any man that reads this book will never second guess what a woman is capable of and never doubt the love that they have, no matter how they display it.
So what does happens when life gives you Lululemons? Well for one person it may be a jog around the neighborhood and mimosas at 10 am, but for these women it means the power and comfort of working together. An all around recommendation for anyone and everyone to read this; moms, daughters, sisters, and friends. If you want to join the high class New York lifestyle, hear the drama, scream at the pages for your predictions to be true, and feel pure joy when you finally read the outcome-- this book is for you.
