Seraphina by Rachel Hartman
Rachel Hartman is a wonderful author who drew me in by the first two pages. Standing in the bookstore, I was suddenly on page ten before I realized that I'd even read a page.
In a fanciful world of dragons, Seraphina strives to survive. She bears a secret that causes her to lie, scheme and break apart inside. With the help of her dragon, she survives sixteen years without her secret being found out: her father was human, her mother was a dragon. Being a talented musician, she doesn't hide in the background as she would like to. After a dragon kills the prince, the treaty is put into question. Rachel Hartman weaves a fantastic story of adventure, mystery, secrets, and even romance. An amazing story that every person should read at least once in their lifetime.
