Forrest Gump
Forrest Gump is a classic movie based off of the novel of the same name. The movie revolves around a slow-witted grown man, who essentially explains his life story to random strangers while waiting for a bus on the bench. Because his mother wanted to ensure that Forrest was never seen as special or was ever put at a disadvantage due to his low intelligence, Gump leaves a fairly normal life. Forrest depicts his life story that goes from being an all-Americna college football player to being a hero in the army during the Vietnam War to captaining a shrimp boat. His attitude and personality mimics that of a child's optimism, and this leads many to root for him and become inspired by his attitude. Although Forrest seems to make just about everyone fall in love with him, the real person he wants is his childhood best friend, Jenny, to be with him for the rest of their lives, but this happens to be one of the most difficult challenges in Gump's entire life.
Forrest Gump is a great movie that starts things off fairly brilliantly. The middle of the movie progresses things nicely, and the enticing ending manages to end things in a manner that would make Forrest Gump proud. There are a few twists and turns sprinkled throughout, but none of them are that ground-breaking or thrilling, although they are very whimsical. However, there are scores of perfectly-timed quotes that are still popular today, and there are tons of famous scenes in the movie. Every scene involving Forrest talking about or listening to someone talk about shrimps is shear gold, and the line, "Run, Forrest, run!" has basically become iconic.
Forrest Gump benefits greatly from having Tom Hank's spectacular performance as Forrest Gump, and his role is certainly one of the movie's best aspects. The movie manages to transform nto a box of chocolates, which is a concept that is constantly brought up throughout the movie, that gifts viewers with some surprising treats that contrast with one another greatly, just like actual events that occur in life. There's some good, there's some bad, but at the end of the day, the movie depicts the story of a man who shouldn't have succeeded, except he did. The tone of the movie is fairly light throughout, and there are some hilarious jokes and one-liners delicately placed in the dialogue.
Not only do viewers seem to fall in love with Forrest Gump, but the movie is also critically acclaimed. IMDb gave the movie an impressive 8.8/10, which is actually really high, and 95% of Rotten Tomatoes' audiences liked the movie. A whopping 96% of Google users also liked the movie, showcasing that the film does sit well with watchers. Forrest Gump is a true classic that is definitely a good fit for just about anyone and everyone, and for those who have not yet seen it, it is time to watch one of the most essential movies of all time.
