Split is a psychological thriller that revolves around a man named Kevin, who has twenty-three different personalities living inside of him. Due to the fact that he has a trusted psychiatrist, he has been able to talk about his feelings with a certified doctor in Dr. Fletcher, and she has started to learn little tricks of how to deal with her patient. In the process, she has tried to gain evidence from all of Kevin's personalities and her other patients' personalities to prove to the rest of the world that it is in fact possible for people to have multiple personalities living inside of them. However, because some of Kevin's personalities believe in a mysterious twenty-fourth one that is supposedly more powerful than the rest of them combined, Kevin is soon compelled by other personalities to kidnap and abduct three teenage girls that greatly differ in personality from one another. After they were hanging out at a birthday party together and tried to leave to go home, they find Kevin in their car, and he eventually knocks them out with gas, leaving them to soon wake up in a mysterious wooden room with escape seeming impossible. The three girls soon learn about all of the personalities that all exist in Kevin's body, but they soon learn that the supposed twenty-fourth one wants to kill them, leaving to them in an attempt to fight for their very own survival, just like the different personalities living inside of Kevin's head want to fight for the spotlight. 
 Split proves to be an exciting, action-packed movie that never ceases to amaze. The beginning of the movie brilliantly jump starts everything and manages to introduce audiences to the fast-paced adventure. In fact, even before the movie reveals the title, things are immediately intriguing. The middle of the movie does a marvelous job of progressing things along, and as the movie gets further into the story, things quickly get that much more compelling, dark, twisted, and substantially interesting. The enticing ending of the movie proves to be everything that the rest of the movie had been building up to and does a fabulous job of managing to cash in on all of the suspense, drama, and intensity that is previously built up. The very conclusion of the movie is a fantastic one that is packed to the brim with thrilling twists and turns that are sure to please, and the movie even manages to tie this film in with Unbreakable in the final seconds, which helps to make the movie have an even cooler aspect to it. 

 Split proves to be a not-so typical horror movie, and the movie actually manages to be quite dark, menacing, and twisted. The entire concept of having a person's other personality kidnap teenage girls as a defense mechanism to traumatic moments from earlier in his life isn't only realistic, but it also takes advantage of advanced theoretical psychology concepts to create a movie that is both believable and horrifying, because it isn't that unrealistic to manage this type of incident occurring in real life. Secondly, because of all of the different personalities living inside Kevin's body, some of the interactions between his grown-up body and a teenage girl's one is quite creepy, and audiences begin to feel as worrisome as the girls on the big screen do. 

 Split greatly benefits from having an absolutely tremendous performance that is unlike any other from their main character. Because James McAvoy plays Kevin and all of the personalities living inside of his body, he really transforms into twenty-plus different characters and roles. James is able to truly transform into the incredible mind of Kevin and all of his different personalities living with inside of him, allowing him to capture the essence of so many different roles and bringing all into one to truly wow. His performance is unforgettable and truly is able to make the movie that much more better, since it is able to elevate it to the next level, because he really sells the concept of having many different people living inside of one man's body, which adds to the movie's realisticness, making the movie that much more terrifying. 

 Not only do viewers seem to enjoy Split, but critics also seemed to be equally satisfied. Rotten Tomatoes gave the movie an exceptional 76%, and IMDb gave the movie an amazing 7.3/10, which is actually quite the impressive score, since they are known to give generally lower scores. An outstanding 92% of Google users liked the movie, helping to demonstrate that just about anyone and everyone felt that they had a good experience with the movie. 

 Because Split is able to become an exhilarating thriller that succeeds on so many different levels and is able to be a great choice for both teenaged watchers and older viewers, this movie is able to become a triumphant hit with a wide variety of audiences and is definitely a must-see.
