Star Wars Rise of the Skywalker is the finale of the Star Wars Saga. It made up to 1.074 billion dollars (about $3 per person in the US) in box office. This is one of the best-selling movies of 2019. This movie is probably going to be known years from now. As much as this movie is entertaining and a final end to the Star Wars saga - the movie still needs work.  
        The main part of the movie they need to work on is the ending scenes because it has a weak conclusion. It ended quickly and barely explained how these characters came to be.  The story ended with Palpatine coming back and showing Rey the dark side. He finds out that the bond between Rey and KYLO (Ben) could restore the one true emperor. So, he stole their energy of life knocking out Rey and KYLO (Ben).  Palpatine then shoots lightning out of his hands to disable all of the Resistance ships. Rey hears the voices of the Jedi before her telling her to stand. She uses the force to grab the lightsaber and runs towards Palpatine. He then focuses his lightning towards Rey. She absorbs the lightning using the lightsaber. Palpatine's iconic line is “I am all the Sith.” In which Rey responds,” I am all the Jedi.” Taking both Lukes and Anakin's lightsaber to force the Lightning back at Palpatine killing him and Rey.  Later KYLO wakes up and gives his life to Rey so the Jedi could live on. Even though this is a very cool and emotional way to end the story nothing is explained from the movies before. It doesn't explain how Palpatine came back.  How Finn is force sensitive, why Rey changed her last name from Palpatine to Skywalker, and what happened to the rest of the characters.  
      This leads me to my second reason. Most of the cast was left out of the story entirely. The main story was to show and tell the audience about friendship, faith, and the power of trust. They showed this through Reys and Ben's relationship. Rey trusted Ben and he later turned to the light side helping Rey complete her destiny and restoring the order to the galaxy. But there was no ending for the three best friends of Rey (Poe, Finn, and Rose). For the last three movies, the four of them went everywhere and helped each other with missions. But at the end of Rise of the Skywalker, all they do is hug. Finn's story was never explained. All we know is that he once was a stormtrooper and then helped the resistance. Poe's story was that he was a spice runner and then he joined the resistance. Rose's story is that she was always in the resistance. They are core characters and yet their stories are never completed. 
       Another point that ruined this movie for me was the clear lack of care that the writers felt for this series.  The writers took the easy way out. By doing this they repeated the past again. From all the original movies the bad guy from the movie before comes back even though everyone thought they were dead. Then the Jedi changes the dark lords' mind and they fight together. And one of them always ends up dying. This is how it has been for seven out of the nine movies. The writers also changed the script and plot of the original George Lucas ideas. Rey was never supposed to be a Skywalker or a Palpatine. She was supposed to be just a scavenger from Jaku. Her original big meaningful line was, “If I am nobody then I am nobody.” This was supposed to represent that anyone could help fight evil if they are Jedi or not. She was also going to have a harsh line towards Ben. She was meant to say, “you are no Skywalker.” She would say this to Ben when he said that he is a Skywalker in the middle of a fight. In the original script, Ben wasn't going to turn to the light side. He was going to die a Sith. But the writers changed the original script to take the easy and already done way.  
       Many other people also thought that the movies needed work. But that doesn’t mean its necessarily bad. Other people may disagree with the reasons I have provided. And I can understand that. Many people have said they like the movie because it is close to the classic films, unlike the trilogies. The writers wanted a relatable story ending for all ages of Star Wars sagas. Another reason for the movie is that the fight scenes were epic. The producers wanted it to be as real as possible. They wanted very little green screen. So as a result, the fight on the broken Death Star between Rey and KYLO had real waves created by a pool of water and cannons that blast life-like waves. And the fight between Rey and Palpatine was in a semi-circle with a sandpit. This way when the characters did the cool moves the sand was flying around.  
I have watched this movie multiple times and it's safe to say that this movie is entertaining and enjoyable to watch. But it does need improvement on character stories and plot development.
