When I first found out that a former Disney Channel actress Olivia Rodrigo was releasing an album, I was thinking that the songs were going to be similar to former Disney Channel stars. Some of those former stars are now pursuing a music career such as Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, and Dove Cameron. When I first listened to the songs in order, it started off as very emotional to an unhealthy obsession. People might say this was not like Adele or Taylor Swift’s, it is not what you would’ve thought it would be. This was not like any other heartbreak album. The singer had successfully shown a big obsession with the breakup she shared with the boy who broke her heart-- as she would say, “a betrayal set up by a lover”. This album had a deeper connection to audiences who had been betrayed and had their partners break their trust.

This album made me cry because I feel like it’s relatable to any teen or adult who has ever been in a horrible breakup/split. The reason why I was full of tears, even though I’ve never been through that type of situation, is because just imagining being in love with someone then out of the blue, they cheat on you. The song “traitor” stood out to me because the pain in the singer's voice was really noticeable. It even gave me chills through my back. This song was about getting cheated on and betrayed by a person you once loved and adored, who suddenly cheats on you making them a traitor. 

The other song that I would not call terrible or good is “happier”. Happier is a good song, but that's not something I would not say. It's about the singer telling her ex boyfriend to not be super happy in the new relationship he is in, and she was giving off selfish vibes. She was dragging her ex's new girlfriend, making her self-esteem go down and making her feel insecure.

Another song I love but I have a problem with is “deja vu”. “deja vu” brings out a whole storyline about the singer taunting her ex boyfriend for being with his new girlfriend, even degrading him for basically re-creating history. “deja vu” has a lot of energy in the song because the beat drops. Everything all starts coming together because you understand the whole point of the song, because it is very precise or exact. 

Half of her songs give off a psychotic ex-girlfriend and stalkerish vibes. “jealousy jealousy” was about how Olivia Rodrigo was watching and noticing what people are doing with their lives. She even calls out her ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend for having a better life and a better lifestyle. We all understand what she really meant when she said 

in her songs “all I see what I should be happier, prettier”. She is getting jealous over people having things that she does not have, or things she cannot obtain.

 My overall opinion on this whole album is that it is highly relatable and understandable. When you get into a miserable relationship or whenever you end up getting heartbroken and screwed over by someone or somebody you love or once gave everything to you maybe you might be saying or acting the way olivia rodrigo did. It makes us go insane to the point where we say things that make us feel guilty or we start avoiding doing main good habits. We become chaotic in our lives and worst of all we do or say the most horrible things and I find it  relatable. This is why I love the album. It's more relatable to some of the lyrics. I may not agree but she did have a point and moment to react in the way she did. 

People might say this album is very horrible or terrible because half of the songs are talking about being cheated on by the boy you once loved and many people might get sick and tired of hearing the same topic but told in different ways. They also might say this album is a replica of Taylor Swift's Red album or folklore because it has similarities. Many people feel as if she is overreacting to the whole entire situation that's why many people hate it. 

Then again, whenever a former Disney Channel star makes albums or songs, it automatically gets hated on and made fun upon. But in reality, usually Disney artists’ music have to be directed to younger audiences. Olivia Rodrigo’s was directed to teenagers and I love how she shedded her Innocent Disney image and made it into a rockstar type of vibe. The people who I give this album as a recommendation are teenagers or adults who have gotten into a heartbreak or have gotten cheated on mostly by teenagers ages 13-17 and adults possibly 18-40. It seems reasonable and relatable to a person. It could be for any gender to be honest. Someone could be like “hey I have gone through that bullcrap before”. A heartbroken teenager would be like this album or a heartbroken young adult. 

I can probably relate to “enough for you” because it talks about how someone tries and works their hardest to impress/satisfy the people they love and adore. In all the songs, the word choices are super comprehensible and understandable. The word choices such as when she used the word “sociopath” in her song “good for you”, which is associated with a human who is showing a lack of sympathy to a certain person or a specific individual. Many people might either say or claim that they are emotionally unavailable. 

Olivia Rodrigo has always been my favorite celebrity ever since she played Paige in the Disney Channel series Bizaardvark, which is a great and well produced series. Her music used to be childish and unserious. The reason why they had to be that way was because she was working for a children's network or company. Her songs that she released this year are serious and highly emotional. It was surprising that type of progress and development in her music.
