Do you like the horror genre? Do you like cartoons? Because one of my most loved shows of all time combines both of these aspects into one. Courage the Cowardly Dog is a piece of art in children’s cartoon horror. The show does a fantastic job of having fun with the audience in its own unique way while at the same time being absolutely terrifying.

There are little to no issues I have with this television show as it does a great job of keeping you entertained. However my one and only criticism is the Y7 rating on the show. Personally I think the age rating should be bumped up a couple more years. This is because of some intensely emotional episodes in the series. The rating I would slap on this show is PG13 since the kids at this age could better understand emotional trauma.

One of the many things I love about this show is the fact that it always resets on the next episode. For instance Eustace Bagge who is the husband of Muriel Bagge happens to get injured a lot in the series. Injured to the point of one would think permanent damage. But because of the shows ability to reset, Eustace always comes back unscathed. Making every episode a fresh new page stops the watchers from knowing what’s next which keeps us engaged because we don’t know what we’re in store for.

Another cool thing about this show is that courage doesn’t really speak full sentences. There were times where he said short responses but for the most part can’t verbally communicate at a human type of level. This made for some intense and hysterical moments when Courage tried getting a point across, especially if danger was around. For the lack of words Courage brought to the table he made up with his facial expressions and full body transformations. To paint a picture for his owners he had to at times turn into objects that would give them clues as to what he was trying to say. The lack of language skills for Courage didn’t hurt him as much as help him by adding more character.

Courage is a great show for children and adults, it’s funny yet at the same time scary. Comedy and horror make an interesting combo in this series. Even if your not a fan of cartoonish stuff I recommend giving this show a watch because of its unique plot lines. The show always starts fresh at the beginning of an episode so you don’t have to worry about cliffhangers which is a plus in my book. The show is truly a classic and stands the test of time in my opinion.

This will certify that the above work is completely original. - RC
