Bandit Kings
In the small town of Primeville, there is a team of young men called the Bandits. They are notorious within the town for their ability to play baseball and how unyielding they are as a team, they are the most vicious and primal team in their state. They won multiple championships back to back, but it isn’t enough to quench their thirst for gold everytime they set foot on the diamond.
They began their last game of the season under the bright and loud explosions of the fireworks that were being lit off during the celebration of our Countries independence. They found this night on July fourth to be the most exciting and prominent night of their young baseball careers. They see this night as the night they stand above the world and feel as if they are the immortal Kings that will never live down their notorious reputation as Baseball players. They come up against the third best team in the league who took down the number two team in the league without any contest. With the guide of their prominent leaders the pitcher Daniel Morgan and the Shortstop Eli Mozzie, These two young men have lead the Bandits to higher achievements and titles. They’ve been together since they could first pick up a baseball and play the young boys game of backyard baseball. When they see this young team called the Rivertrouts that threatens their throne at the top of the league, they unify and spark the fire thats been burning inside of them since they stepped foot on the diamond. The Bandits and Rivertrouts go back and forth each inning fighting for the lead and stealing the momentum from each other with the earth shaking roar of the fans blurring out the rest of the world behind them. Because to them they are the center of the world and the only thing that matters to these Bandits and Rivertrouts is the one who wins this game will take home the State title and determine their dominance among the other teams in the league. They will be the first team to ever win multiple back to back championships, this is the game that the bandits are hungry for and will stop at nothing to finish this game strong and have the chance to leave this league and forever be eulogized as Champions. Thats all they could think about during the last game of the season that has left these Bandits wery but determined to take this team down of prodigies who bark the slur of winning this game without a fight. The Bandits are closing in on their last chance to take the lead from these Rivertrouts who have held the lead throughout the later innings of the game shoving the pressure of losing down the Bandits throats.
As Eli Mozzie comes up to the plate to take on the fierce speed of the Rivertrouts Ace Pitcher, he seems as calm as a ponds water surface unbothered by something that has touched it. He steps into the box knowing that with two outs, a runner on second, and down by one run this can be the defining moment that can kill off their dreams of becoming destined for glory, As Eli Mozzie stares down the pitcher with a perilous look upon his face He smirks as if he knows what the next pitch is going to be. Then once the pitch leaves the hand of the rivertrouts pitcher with a gruesome amount of power and speed behind it, Mozzie doesn’t even cower away as it zooms directly for the Catchers glove. Mozzie loads up his swing with the assurance that he is going to hit the ball, but as the bat whips across the plane of the plate and the dead silence that surrounds the diamond. The only thing that is heard before the explosive roar of the crowd, is the loud bang of the bat meeting the ball and sailing high in the air to left field leaving the diamond. The Bandits take back the lead in the second to last inning, as the crowd explodes with excitment as if Mozzie had poured gasoline on this burning fire that has turned the tide for the Bandits. He meets his team at the plate with the biggest grin anyone has seen upon his face, Once the roar of the crowd faded away there was only one goal left on the agenda for these Bandits. That was to hold these Rivertrouts at a stalemate score that cant take their rightful title away from them.
Once the Bandits burst from the hometown dugout they are introduced to the diamond with loud claps and whistles that give them the hope of taking home the title by just playing defense one last time, As their Captain Daniel Morgan steps onto the mound with pure intentions of putting away each kid that dares to face him at the plate. He says no words as He stares down the first batter to step in the box and challenge him,He finds the perfect sign from his Catcher that gives him the indication to throw a fastball to the outside corner. He simply nods with a smirk hidden behind his glove, He makes his motion towards the plate and whips his arm around his body as if the ball was let loose from a catapult. He blows that pitch right passed the batter for their first out of the inning, The next batter comes to the plate with raw power showing in his stance and his confidence that shows from his attitude. This Batter comes in with the intention of hitting a homerun to tie up the game and revive his team. But as Daniel delivers the first pitch of the at bat this batter hits it too deep left field leaving the infield in a hurry with skyscraper height. The Bandits left fielder will tremendous speed finds the ball and dives mid air giving his full effort to save this game with an amazing catch and when he meets the hard grass of the outfield with his body he lifts up his glove with the excitement of his catch where the ball was snowconed in his glove just barely catching it by the laces. It comes down to one last batter who feels the weight of the world upon his shoulders as he makes his strut to the plate, with two outs in the last inning of the game and the Rivertrouts down by one run Daniel Morgan begins his windup. With the quick movement of Daniels windup he delivers the first pitch with maximum speed that just grazes the outside corner of the plate being confirmed as a ball by the umpire.
Once Daniel sees the call from his Catcher he shakes it off as his hunger and pride consumes him to throwing a fastball just one more time, He loads up and delivers the screaming fastball directly down the middle of the zone. As the field and crowd goes silent the only sound heard next was the bat meeting the ball across the plane and leaving home plate in the direction of the pitcher and slamming against the mound with intentions of reaching the outfield grass. Out of no where Eli Mozzie the shortstop leaves the ground with a superman dive into the dirt catching the ball on its second bounce and exploding from a prone position to his feet throwing a bullet straight to the first basemans glove for the final out of the game. For the very last time the crowd roars with excitement and the tone of victory upon each players scream as they are come crashing into the Pitchers mound dog piling onto one another enjoying the sweet feeling of another State title in their grasp.
