Everything was blurry. There was a constant ringing in his ears. Back and

forth he swayed. His head was pounding like a thousand small hammers were

hitting his head continuously. All he heard was, “Chug, chug, chug, chug!”

One….two….three. There went one. Then the second, and the third, and the

fourth. There didn’t seem to be an end. He regretted ever taking a sip. What did

he do? He couldn’t change it now. He had to force the alcohol down his throat.

He wanted to stop, but he had no choice. Otherwise he’d feel a hundred punches

at him. It was too much. He couldn’t handle it. Finally, he fell. His head touching

the cold ground. He was grasping for air as his eyes started closing slower and

slower and slower. The last thing he saw was the bright light shining directly at

him. He let out his final sigh at age fourteen.

In this set piece, I was trying to convey a theme/message by using the feelings of the character.

I love the back and forth between inner thoughts and action.
