You carried me in your arms as a baby
          And as a small child
You loved me with everything you had
And the best of your abilities.

You'd rub my back until I was stolen by sleep
And you'd tell me stories of princesses and bunnies.
When I fell you’d pick me up,
Brush me off, and kiss my cheek.
You let me roam free in my little world called
               The back yard.

You let me grow.

But you shared a secret
  That no child should know
And I can't look at you the same way.
I love you. And I forgive you

But I'm hurting and you can't see it.
Even though I'm right in front of you.
