Once upon a pair of Converse (excerpt from an unfinished original novel)
Once there was a pair of Converse. Untied and red, the girl wearing them tripped over their laces. And yes, she fell. She fell hard. And she fell in love. Because a boy in black Converse caught her. And he never let her go. This boy was her best friend, and he would do everything for her. She made him smile, he made her laugh. They were the perfect pair. Inseparable. Their love was pure.
But one day, there was an accident. The boy was in the hospital, and was too injured to survive. As he kissed his love goodbye, he whispered "I love you," and then he was gone.
When the girl got home, cheeks stained with tears, there was a box sitting on the step with a note saying "For my beautiful princess in red." She opened the box and inside was a plush black and white kitten toy, wearing a pair of red Converse on it's hind paws, a black pair on it's forepaws. It's collar stated "Forever mine. Love, your prince."
