August 2022 Fiction Contest: The Package
“Andy!” My little sister, Jess, shouted. “The package arrived.”
Inside this package, there’s supposed to be a special crystal and it’s thought to give people powers.
I sped down the stairs. I snatched the box out of Jess’s hands and ripped it open. It was a box of bubble wrap. I searched through it and found a purple rock. I grabbed it and within seconds, I got very, very warm.
“AGH!” Jess screeched. “You’re on fire!”
I looked down and my hands were engulfed in flames. I had powers! One problem, I’m scared of fire. This was going to be fun.

I really love stories about people with POWERS. When I heard about the Teen Ink Flash Fiction Contest, you can imagine what came to my head.
