Night Demon

Windows down, curtains on, lights off.
I slip into the warm layers of my blanket and
eyes drooling with sleep.
So much cozy peace in the cold winter night.
And then it starts.
I can hear it in my fuzzy mind.
It is real. It is near.
I can hear it coming closer.
It is coming for me.
That sound. Those vibrations in the air around. They make sure your night is just not so cozy.
It's here. Hovering on me.
It lives when I bleed. Now, or maybe later.
Those unexplainable bite marks on my skin at the end of each night.
That antagonizing sound it makes till dawn. It drives you mad if you concentrate on it. Continous.
It's close. In my proximity. Madness starts.
I try fighting it. Catch hold of it to rip it of.
Blankets thrown. Cold air hits my face.
It disappeared into the dark corners, never in sight.
Defeated, I sink back to the horizontal, by the little demon of frosty nights.
Defeated by the damned, mysterious, never-dying
Mosquito which buzzes all night over my ears.

~buzzz~buzz~buzz~

Madness starts again.
